Organizational Behavior Case-Study
Diane a member of your software development team of six people, has fallen behind with her work over the past three weeks. The number of errors attributed to her has increased, and this affects all the team members because they rely on one another's contributions. They have put in extra time and effort to fill gaps and to try and keep projects on target. Nevertheless, critical deadlines have been missed and customers have complained to your boss who has told you to fix the problem quickly. Diane has been with the company for four years and there has been no previous concerns about her work. You first spoke with other team members informally about the problem, but they were not helpful/ Casually while observing you have noticed Dinae used her cell phone to send and receive messages during work hours, and she seems to receive a large number of personal emails. She spends most of her breaktime on the phone rather than socializing with the team as the company norm. She has started taking much greater concern over her appearance. You spoke with Diane, but she denied her performance had deteriorated, accused you of intruding when you asked if she had any personal problems, and asked you to stop bothering her.
