Chapter One Recruiters' Dilemma
Let's Line This Up...
Rebecca recently joined a small, fast-paced IT organization in Victoria, British Columbia, as the human resources management business partner. Rebecca completed her Business Administration HRM Diploma and has been working in various human resources management roles for the past five years.
She decided to join this organization as the human resources management portfolio seemed very challenging and becoming a human resources management business partner was her next logical career progression.
The organization has grown very fast and has a dynamic workforce of highly skilled, largely STEM employees. The leadership team works to inspire employee innovation, self-reliance, and engagement. Teams are a central work structure as most of the organization's work is product development completed in teams.
There seems to be limited human resources management strategy and practices in place and numerous problems-this appeals to Rebecca. She must first become familiar with the organizational strategy and operations beyond human resources management. She will also work to understand the external environmental trends to be able to recommend the human resources management strategy to the leadership team.
1. Which external factors should Rebecca consider for this organization's human resources management strategy?
2. Which human resources management strategy would you suggest to Rebecca for this organization?
