Since 2020, we have gained a lot of insight into both the acute and long-term impact of a SARS COV-2 infection. There will be much more to learn about the systemic effects of Covid-19 as those that have survived the infection heal. Our most current estimate is that about 1 in 4 Covid patients will develop long-haul symptom pictures for months after their initial infection (UC Davis Health, 2021). While Covid-19 is generally considered a respiratory disease (in primary symptoms and spread), we also know that the pathogenesis of the infection can impact many systems with lasting effects. (Bohn, et al 2020).

QUESTIONS:

I would like you to choose one organ system of interest. Once you have settled on a system, I would like you to research the following:

1. How is the system in question impacted by a SARS-COV-2 infection (tissue damage, symptom picture)?

2. What do we currently know can be a long-term effect(s) on this system after a Covid-19 infection?

3. Discuss at least one treatment or form of supportive care we are using to care for patients with this long-term effect.
