Mr. Tembo, one of the longest serving Engineers at Konkola Copper Mines (KCM), entered his office one morning and found a letter from Human Resource department stating that he had been declared redundant by the mining giant. He cried uncontrollably saying that his rentals were due and his wife had just given birth to a baby boy in the Mine Hospital and that he had not prepared for it. It had to take the women who were selling Cassava and Groundnuts, commonly known as Tute ne mbalala by the locals, outside the mine gate, to calm him down.

They encouraged him that it was not the end of the world for him because he had another option of becoming an entrepreneur and like them, be self employed.
