Project - Optimization of Proppant Placement
This project is assigned to:
1) Abdulaziz
Description: The unified fracture design (UFD) was introduced in this course as a method to optimize the fracture dimensions (length and width) for a given amount of proppant and given reservoir properties. The unified fracture design assumes a single optimum value for fracture conductivity. This means that the proppant should be uniformly distributed in the fracture. Nolte's approach for proppant pumping (schedule) is used to obtain that uniform distribution by the end of the injection time. The project consists of answering the following questions:
1) Would a uniform proppant distribution (conductivity) always result in optimum productivity for a given amount of proppant and reservoir? Investigate this question at different reservoir permeability.
Hint: You will need a reservoir simulator to do this part. If interested, I can help lending you a matlab code.
2) For the cases that non-uniform proppant distribution will give optimum productivity. How would you design the job to achieve that?
Hint: You might need to suggest a different way of proppant scheduling.
Note - The native file is the productivity model. If you read the instructions, It says you need to see the effect of permeability By doing runs, So the professor already provided the model, The matlab are 4 files, however only one you need to run, the other are supporting file to the main code, The outcome of this project should be written in SPE format. It should include Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Nomenclature, and References.
