1. A number of social scientists claim that racial prejudice varies according to religious grouping. To explore this claim, a journalist asks a random sample of 793 adults to answer the following question: "Do you think that there should be laws against interracial marriage?" The journalist also asks questions that allow her to classify respondents by religious preference. Her tabulated data are as follows:

Please analyze the data with respect to the scientists' claim about a connection between prejudice and religious grouping. Include your hypotheses, data analyses with the Excel and interpretation of the results.

2. Perform a cross-tabulation analysis along with a chi-square test using the raw data as follows:

(1) Use the "employee data.xls" data to create a contingency table using gender (1: male, 0: female) as an independent variable and job category (1: clerical, 2: custodial, 3: manager) as a dependent variable. The table should present both observed frequency and column percentage for each cell.

(2) Calculate expected frequencies for each cell.

(3) Use Excel to perform the chi-square test if job type allocations are different between male and female employees. Interpret the results.

3. Use the "marketvalues.xls" data to assess if and how much house size in squared feet ("sqft"), days on market before sold ("marktime") and purchase price in dollars ("value") are associated each other. Perform a correlation analysis in Excel and interpret the results.

4. Use the "marketvalues.xls" data to assess if purchase price (DV) is affected by house size (IV). Interpret all coefficients, test statistics and R-square.
