Details: You have heard that many companies use operations management (OM) tools, so decide to ask your supervisor what he thought about this. Your supervisor requested that you research the idea and present it at the afternoon managers' meeting to see if it is something valuable to use. He had asked that you make sure to find examples of other companies that benefitted from their use.

Using your Web resources, research 2 companies that rely heavily on OM tools. Investigate what operations management tools they have developed over time to help them gain a competitive advantage over their competitors. Where appropriate, identify the general type of tools that they are using.

Assignment Guidelines:

For each company that you select, address the following in a PowerPoint presentation of 8-10 slides:

Name of the organization
Location of the headquarters
The source of your information (articles/Web sites/pages)
One or more significant operations management initiatives
What benefits are already being realized?
Generally speaking, what types of operations management tools are being used?
All slides must be accompanied by 200-250 words of speaker notes.
