Operations Management Project
Format: Report format (Executive Summary, table of content, body and recommendation/ conclusion)
The project involves research, analysis and the development of practical options in operations management.
Student will gain an overview of the organisation's operations and identify areas of particular interest. For example, an ineffective process may stand out as an area that requires improvement.
Student is required to identify and define a problem or opportunity, gather data, analyse the data, investigate options and propose a solution to the problem or propose how the opportunity may be realised. You also required to plan the implementation of the initiative. The project is not about a general description of the operations management of the organisation.
The case study-Trans-European Plastics
The report will describe the purpose of the project, the methods used, the recommendations and the implementation plan. The body of the report should not exceed 2000 words. Appendices should be used for supporting information, not as a means of circumventing the word count.
The assessment criteria for the written report are:
- Selection of the project in the context of the organisation's mission
- Research and analysis
- Development of alternatives and a recommendation
- Development of an implementation plan
- Logical structure
- Clarity of expression
