This optional assignment consists of writing a professional report on operations management in the automotive industry. This assignment has two objectives:

  • Apply several Operations Management (OM) notions learned along the course on a real industry.
  • Understand the role, specificities, and importance of OM for a specific industry.

The assignment will be done in teams of 2 or 3 students. This assignment has to be done in a team. You can work with students from the other section.

Tasks:

Prepare a report of up to three pages on Jiffy Lube (jiffylube.ca) based on analyses, supplementary research, and other relevant information. The report should provide related observations and analyses of the course content and learnings. The report should also refer to the historical developments that characterize the industry and the company and make it unique in terms of its culture and the way it competes through effective & efficient operations.

Explain one issue regarding forecasting for this industry.
