An employee in your Company is complaining that his work is in a very noisy place and he has to operate the noisy machinery all day long which is affecting his hearing. He has spoken with his doctor and the doctor recommended the use of noise canceling headphones. The best industrial-grade noise canceling headphones are available for about $2,000.00. There are 12 other employees who work on the same machinery on different shifts who will also need the headphones. And COVID-19 precautions require the Company to provide individual head-gear to each employee, paid by the Company.

a. Would you advise your Company to provide the expensive headphones or not? Explain your reason.

b. Since the other employees have not asked, should the Company continue to let them use just the same headgear previously provided or should they be given the new headphones too if this one employee is approved to get them? Why or why not?
