A male patient has a new onset of fever with redness and swelling localized to a recent wound on his arm. He is alert and oriented. His blood pressure is 124/68 and he has a pulse of 98. Respirations are 22 and unlabored. This patient's condition is best described as: decompensated shock severe sepsis exaggerated inflammatory response uncomplicated infection.
