Air is considered as an ideal gas. Don't use gas table for gas properties, just assume that both cv and cp are constants. For air, cv=717, cp=1003, and R=287 J/kgK.

The compressor and turbine of a simple gas turbine have isentropic efficiencies of 80% and 90%, respectively. The compressor pressure ratio is 12. The minimum and maximum temperatures are 290 K and 1400 K, respectively. On the basis of an air-standard analysis, compare the values of

a) the net work per unit mass of air flowing
b) the heat absorbed in the combustion chamber per unit mass of air flowing,
c) the thermal efficiency with the same quantities evaluated for an ideal Brayton cycle.
