Background:

This course work is to review a Building Floor Plan for code compliance with NFPA 101, "Life Safety Code."

The Students would be assessed for their understanding in the application of the codes for a Real Case Floor Plan, to write a review based on it, and to propose suitable recommendations or changes that are needed to be adopted in the plan for necessary compliance with the codes.

Task 1

Referring to the attached floor plan of a Building, review the plans, and prepare a Fire & Life Safety Report for the facility.

Your report shall contain

• Building Description.
• Building Occupancy Classification.
• Calculation of occupant load.
• Means of egress requirement and compliance.
• Exit Capacity Compliance.
• Propose the requirement for fire protection measures.
• Indicate fire separation in the layout and its requirements with justification in the report.
• Indicate the Travel Distance, Common Path of Travel, Dead End Distance & Exits within the Layout.

You are advised to refer NFPA 101 code for answering the relevant task by proper referencing of clauses in the report.

• Referencing - Your report should provide necessary citations and references. Referencing should be in Harvard Referencing System. Cross referencing is to be followed. Failing to which mark will be deducted accordingly

• There is no word limit, but the quality of your report fetches high marks.
• Make sure that you proofread the final document before submission for technical aspects such as spelling, punctuation, grammar, missing words, and acknowledgment of sources (References)

• Students are expected to carry out a reasonable level of research and submit their work; failure to do so shall result in a non-evaluation of the students' course work.
