Offshoring good for the domestic economy

Offshoring, not to be confused with outsourcing, is the process of a company moving certain processes or jobs overseas in search of cheaper labor. Offshoring only works for certain companies in certain industries, it is very prevalent in many well-known branded clothing lines in particular.

But is offshoring good for the domestic economy? In a time when nationalism is rising many people are vocally against sending what could be domestic jobs over to foreign countries. Many low-wage jobs are already being replaced by computerization and advancements in technology so should we be willingly making even more of the local population unemployed?
