Question

Officials at Tripper Communications, a private consulting firm, call FBI Agent Friendly because they suspect that a new employee, Mr. X, is using his company computer to engage in criminal conduct-illegal offshore sports betting. Agent Friendly asks Tripper's IT squad to "image" the computer that has been assigned to Mr. X. They comply.

Agent Friendly calls his supervisor at this point, saying, "I don't have enough for a search warrant. What do I do now?" Please advise him. Has he made any mistakes so far that might prejudice the investigation? For instance, what should he be asking the officers and IT people at Tripper?
