Question

Say you are offered a raise to leave a company to work for another, and your boss finds out and offers you a raise within one year if you stay for three years. You decide to stay with your company, and eight months later, you are dismissed after the merger of both companies.

You sue for breach of contract. Can I reinforce my boss's promise, and what theories could I use to determine which party wins?
