A block of mass 2.5 kilogram, starting from rest, falls a vertical distance of 75centimeter before striking a vertical coiled spring. As a result of this contact the spring is compressed a distance, x, from its original length when the block comes momentarily to rest. The spring constant for the spring is 4000N/m.

Find the distance x, that the spring is compressed?

After the block is momentarily at rest, the spring will return to its equilibrium position and eject the block back into the air. Obtain what is the speed of the block when it is a distance of 50cm above the end of the spring?
