Question

The DSM 5-TR diagnosis for the patient is Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). The patient meets criteria for having recurrent and persistent thoughts, impulses, or images (obsessions) that are experienced as intrusive and unwanted and cause marked anxiety or distress, as well as compulsions that are performed in response to the obsessions, or according to rules that must be applied rigidly. The patient's compulsive behaviors, such as excessive cleaning and sterilizing, are time-consuming and interfere with her daily functioning.
