Assignment - Power System Analysis
1. Objective of this assignment is to observe the behavior of a synchronous generator system. Siumulink is used for the analysis. The demo system power _turbine.six is used for the investigation. Carry out the load flow and initialization procedure before starting the simulation.
a) Consider the initial condition of the system and determine the active and reactive power flow from the generator. Compare the active power output with the mechanical power input and determine the active and reactive power flow at the 230kv source. Account for the difference.
b) For a simulation duration of 5 seconds, carry out a simulation in response to the application to the fault. Plot the machine speed and confirm the stability is maintained.
c) Plot the mechanical power variation and the generator field voltage and also discuss the response of the turbine Governor and the excitation system in responses to the fault.
d) Plot the machine load angle and the machine speed and comment on the relationship between the two signals and determine the critical clearing angle for the fault.
e) Restore the model to its original settings and re-solve the load flow. Remove the excitation system and replace it with a constant field value, equal to that specified in the load flow. Simulate the system and observe the response and also comment on the result.
f) Restore the model to its original settings and re-solve the load flow. Remove the turbine and Governor model and replace it with a mechanical power input, equal to that specified in the load flow. Simulate the system and observe the response and also comment on the result.
Present the result in report, addressing each section this is the siumulink to use, and you need to make use of matlab to open it. Please notify me if you were able to open it.
