Rates of overweight and obesity continue to grow in adults and children. Globally, the prevalence of overweight and obesity and the number affected individuals have increased in children aged 5-19 with obesity in 2000 was 52,3million, in 2020 it rose to 150million and research have predicted it will rise to 254million in 2030 age groups and will continue rising during the next decade. Nearly 3 in 4 adults aged 20 or older in the United States have either overweight or obesity. Nearly 1 in 5 children and teens aged 2 to 19 years have obesity. From 1990 to 2022, the percentage of children and adolescents aged 5-19 years living with obesity increased four-fold from 2% to 8% globally, while the percentage of adults 18 years of age and older living with obesity more than doubled from 7% to 16%.
