Creating a Healthy Eating Plan
The purpose of this assignment is to research a healthy dietary pattern and plan a healthy diet for yourself. You will be applying the knowledge and skills from previous assignments to make personal dietary changes.
Select from one of the following healthy eating plans: DASH Diet, Mediterranean Diet, Vegetarian or Vegan Diet, Flexitarian Diet, TLC (Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes) Diet, MIND Diet, Volumetrics Diet, or Weight Watcher's Diet. 2) Research two professional sources related to the diet. See Guidelines for Finding and Citing Research for more information on how to determine what a peer reviewed article is and how to cite in an APA format.
Both sources can be peer reviewed professional journal articles, or you can use a combination of one peer reviewed journal article and one professional website that evaluated the diet or some component of the diet's effects on human health.
The research may be related to the specific diet or type of dietary pattern that is found in the diet.
o For example, you could find research on the health benefits of a Vegan diet or look for research on how a dietary pattern based on plant foods affects human health.

The menu should be realistic and achievable based on your current situation. This needs to be a menu that you designed, use of a published menu from the internet will not earn any points for the menu.
VARIETY: Think about variety in the foods you choose from each food group. (Do not repeat the same menu for all 3 days.)
SPECIFIC DESCRIPTIONS: Be specific for each menu item. For example, instead of soup, identify it as tomato soup. Instead of a sandwich, identify it as a turkey and swiss cheese on whole wheat bread.
BALANCED & ADEQUATE: Review to make sure you have included all food groups and that it meets the primary recommendations of the healthy eating plan you selected.
1) Submit a PDF file of your 3-day menu using the menu template that is found in the Assignment folder.
2) What were two challenges you found in designing your menu plan? Explain.
3) Identify two of the easiest steps in the process in creating your menu plan. Explain.
