Question
Krisha a 26 years old G1P1 39 weeks AOG was transferred to the delivery room. She is now on the transition phase of the 1st stage of labor. Internal Examination reveals 9 cm of cervical dilatation. 90% effaced and station positive (+) 2. Her uterine contraction lasted for about 45 seconds with the interval of 2 minutes per contraction. Her latest Vital Signs are the following: BP: 120/80; Temp: 37.3'C, Pulse: 89; RR: 17cpm. FHT: 140 bpm.
Doctor's Order:
NPO
Start IVF D5LR; 1L to run for 8 hours
Provide perineal care
Empty the bladder using straight catheter
Monitor Vital signs q15 minutes
Monitor FHT q 15 minutes
Continue monitoring the client
Refer accordingly.
After 2 hours, Krisha delivered a healthy baby boy. Oxytocin 10 units IM was ordered. The nurse is now assisting the doctor with episiorrhaphy while continously monitoring the patient. The client stated "I was in so much pain, but I saw my baby it's all worth it."
