Patient scenario:

Tony Sanchez, 63, a Hispanic man that lives with his wife, Maria. He has been a diabetic since the age of 42. He is not as compliant with his treatment as he should be (likes sweets, eats most anything he wants, tries to accommodate for this by taking extra insulin). Maria tries to help him maintain his dietary restrictions, but Tony states he is the "man of the house" and Maria cannot always tell him what he needs to do. Tony is retired from working at the Whirlpool factory. Maria has always been a homemaker. The problem is that Tony is suffering from end stage macular degeneration and is 90% blind. He is in the hospital today because his blood sugar this morning was 589. He is confused about where he is and keeps calling out for Maria even though she is in the room with him.
