Nursing and rehab facilities house the elderly, post-surgery patients, and the disabled. While some have a great experience in the facilities, some are the victims of abuse. This abuse can be either be direct or indirectly. Neglectful behavior can vary from person to person. "Neglect is defined as an act of omission in the care leading to potential or actual harm. Neglect may include inadequate health care, education, supervision, protection from hazards in the environment, and unmet basic needs such as clothing and food." (Gonzalez, et.al., 2023) This behavior can apply to anyone, nurses included, that are in a caregiver relationship with an elderly or disabled person. In this paper, the topic of discussion is geared toward what research would provide a full understanding of the data regarding the situation of neglect in nursing and rehab facilities.
