Nurses can encourage caregiving by firstly recognizing that information, training, care, and support may be needed in order to be success in their role. This means not treating the caregiver as just a resource. They can recognize the caregiver's own health care needs, and refer them to needed services and supports (Schulz, R., & Eden, J., 2016). They can also either provide direct or refer caregivers to training programs that can instill confidence in managing daily care. Environmental modifications can also improve quality of life for not only patients, but caregivers as well supports.
