Numerical Solution of Magnetic Field
Consider the rectangular domain as shown with two rectangular conductors as shown that carry 10A in the z-direction. Assume μr = 5000 for the iron, and the conductor is made up of copper. Each conductor has a square cross section of side 1cm. All dimensions in this ?gure are in centimeters.
Analyze the magnetic ?ux density within the entire bigger square including the ?ux density within the conductor.
Find the magnetic potential A(x, y) and the magnetic ?ux density B(x, y) at all grid points in the domain. Your report should address the following:
Plot the B ?eld as vector (use quiver plot), and also plot contour plot of B ?eld magnitude. Discuss the plots.
- Plot the magnetic potential A as vector and magnitude. Discuss the plots.
Compute the analytical solution for B assuming that the conductors have circular cross section (and neglect presence of iron in the region).
Compare with the numerical solution computed above.
Consider any closed loop with one of the conductors inside the loop. Verify if Ampere's law holds.
Consider any closed loop that does not include any conductor. Verify if Ampere's law holds.
Suppose the conductor is carrying an alternating current at 60Hz. Investigate how magnetic ?eld varies as a function of time.
