Question

A 17-year-old-boy is brought to the hospital by his mother because of increased confusion. This has developed over the last 3 weeks and prior to the mother says that he has normal cognitive function. IN the last 3 weeks, she mentioned that he son has presented himself as confused, slow to react and often stares off into space. During his episodes he typically doesn't respond when questioned and if he does, his response doesn't respond when questioned and if eh does, his response doesn't make sense. After a few minutes, the patient seems to regain his thoughts, and can continue on with hsi day and/or activity. The patient also mentions for the first time that last week during his confusion and loss of his ability to speak, he found his arms and legs jerking,. After about 30 seconds, he shared that he regained his ability to move his extremities (arms/legs).
