Put yourself in the position of being your organization's representative to a new global sustainability partnership. You believe you have prepared yourself for this role because you have mastered most all the competencies that were described in the UN Partnership Guidebook "MUST" leadership framework (p. 66). You know, however, that there will be power differences and differing "frames" within the group and you are the business representative. You have also read Gray and Purdy's analysis of the types of conflicts that often happen in cross sector partnerships and understand that convenors can sometimes (not always) be useful in resolving some of these issues.

Given the above and your knowledge attained from all the relevant readings, and respond to the following:

Going in to the initial meetings of the partnership, will you suggest that yourself (and perhaps other representatives) play the leader/facilitator role or will you suggest that a convenor be engaged?

In your narrative: 1) debate the pros and cons of each approach and 2) give your recommendation of which to follow and why.
