At a company as large and complex as Amazon, the onboarding process plays a crucial role in helping new employees navigate the organization resources, policies and systems. As someone who values efficiency and smooth experiences, I believe that improving the onboarding process at Amazon can significantly enhance new hires productivity, engagement and satisfaction. Five functional requirements for improving the onboarding process at Amazon:
1. The system must provide new employees with a personalized onboarding portal accessible through the Amazon employee portal, delivering a customized checklist of tasks, training and resources based on the employee's role, team and location.
2. The system must automate the distribution and completion of mandatory paperwork, such as tax forms, benefits enrollment and confidentiality agreements.
3. The system must facilitate virtual orientation sessions led by experienced Amazon employees, providing new hires with insights into the company's culture, values and organizational structure.
Consider the espoused values of Netflix vs. the enacted values, the basic assumptions, as well as the observable artifacts.
How can you apply what you have learned? Look at the financial statements or perform basic research on your current or previous employer.
Explain the factors that contribute to ineffective decisions. Discuss the ways that manager can utilize to make effective decisions.
Think about how we can rephrase our communication to be positive.
