New blood into labor movement and new excitement

I have always felt that competition is a good thing...whether that be in healthcare, with competing hospitals, grocery stores, WalMart versus Piggly Wiggly, or labor unions AFL-CIO versus Change to Win. When there is not competition, leadership of organizations become complacent and do little to seek out new ways and methods of doing things. They believe that the status quo will last forever. This is what killed the labor movement in the 50s and 60s, and they have not recovered from it yet.

Change to Win has brought new blood into the labor movement - and new excitement. My only concern is that it may be too little and too late. Unions are not a necessary part of the workforce as they once were because management is better and employees do not want to be burdened by union rules.

It will be interesting to see the outcomes. Thoughts?
