Bob and Frank build an Atwood machine with two baskets that are attached to one another with rope. Bob (mass = 35.0 kg) is standing in one of the baskets holding a 5.00 kg bag of sand. Frank (mass = 40.0 kg) stands in the other basket. When Bob holds onto the bag of sand, the baskets are balanced and remain suspended 2.00 m above the ground. Bob drops the bag of sand from rest, sending the baskets in motion.

a) What is the magnitude of the boys' acceleration?

b) What is the tension of the rope that connects the baskets?

c) How long after the sand hits the ground does Frank hit the ground? Neglect the mass of the rope and the baskets and consider the pulley to be friction-free.
