There are both good aspects to a plea bargain and very negative or evil aspects to plea bargains. I think that plea bargains are, in fact, a necessary evil. One reason why plea bargains are corrupt is that the families of the victims might feel that justice is not fully served since the defendant can plead guilty to a lesser charge. Since the defendant does not stand trial, the defendant or the victim's family member might feel robbed. They might feel that the sentence might have been different if the case went through trial. A reason that a plea bargain is beneficial is that since the prosecution does not need to divulge all of the evidence, they could come away with a higher plea bargain than what they could obtain in a courtroom. I do not think that plea bargains should be changed or abolished. The reason that I believe this is because even though there are cons for this activity, the pros outweigh the cons. I think that plea bargains can not only save time and money but can help the prosecution and defense teams. Plea bargains can be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
