She know this patient well and cares for her well-being, having been her primary provider for 30 years. In considering her professional responsibility, Kavya understands that her primary mandate is to treat her illness to the best of her ability, as well as treat her with the care and dignity befitting another human. Kavya concludes that fulfilling her patient's request is consistent with the Hippocratic Oath and would not be playing God. Kavya's intention is to benefit her patient by preventing further needless suffering and allowing her some dignity in death.
