For example, I think race would be Asian and an ethnic diversity would be Japanese. They are both ways to categorize, ethnic diversity seems a little more specific.

3 factors that influence creation of culture could be religion, language, and ancestry. When a group of people have these things in common, a culture begins to develop. Devotion to a religion unites people under a common thread. A culture can develop around religion alone. A common language can also unite people and can produce culture. Ancestry in common can weave bonds between people as well. When these factors combine, it makes for even more defined cultures.

When I think of my own culture from this perspective, I am astounded how many different cultures there are in the world. I think people can belong to many different cultures. For example, my family line came from Pennsylvania. Our family is related, we have a common religion, ancestry, and language. Geographically we are united as well. Furthermore, the city that I live in now has its own culture that unites the people who live here. We have things within our culture that binds us together. When I went to Iceland last summer, I saw an amazing culture with language, customs, and common ancestry. It was so different and fascinating to learn about. Culture is such a complex thing and so important to understand as we seek to understand the psychology of others.
