Question

Nature and nurture have the strongest impact on development because these perspectives are tied together to be one. After all, without one, we wouldn't have the other. Psychologists have started teaching people about epigenetics, a term used to describe the inheritance of mechanisms other than through the DNA sequences of the genes, which helps to show that some things can be passed from one generation to the next or have effects that only last through a few generations. This indicates that we can use nature to change things in our DNA which is the whole point of survival of the fittest. Still, people can nurture something out of a person as well because if there is a behavior that a parent doesn't want their child to have, they don't have to teach it to them, and eventually, it won't be a thing anymore. People are so focused on nature vs. nurture, but they should focus on nature and nurture because we can learn much more about ourselves and others.

It's hard to look at nature vs. nurture with my brother and me because we are 6 years apart. We grew up in two completely different societies, but these differences are the changes in nature and nurture. My brother is 15 years old, and he grew up in a generation focused on cell phones and video games, whereas I grew up with an mp3 player and swing. If I wanted to do something, I had to go outside and entertain myself, where all he had to do was log on to his Xbox. This change in nature has made us two completely different people because I enjoy going outside and being out of the house, whereas being inside is his comfort zone. This way of being raised has also shown itself in the differences in how we were nurtured because he's never been encouraged to go out and be a part of groups where all I did was participate in different sports and activities, making me a lot more extroverted than he is. I know I can't truly compare us because of our gender difference which I know also had a big part in how we were raised, but we are entirely different people just because of how we were affected by nature vs. nurture.
