In 2015, a New South Wales-based company specialising in producing naturally based environmental household cleaning (e.g. dishwasher liquid) products, had 15 per cent of its total sales volume (slightly higher in terms of sales value) generated from Hong Kong (2%), China (10%) and other Asian markets (3%). The company has an international division that is directly responsible for overseeing all export matters and reports to the company’s Managing Director. It is estimated that 25 per cent of the company’s total sales will come from selling the company’s existing products to Asian markets by 2017 including at least 20% from China. A question is raised about whether it is time to set up a global structure in view of the increasing export business to Asia. What decision would you make if you were the company’s Managing Director?
