Case Study: Step one for the research paper is to begin to ask questions either within or about your field. Are there problems that need to be solved in your field? Are there concepts you don't understand or that others outside of the field misinterpret? Is there policy that affects the teaching of your field or the types of work people do within in? Another way to think of this is whether there are any controversies in your field or related to your field. Controversial people, court cases, new policies, and new versus old ways of doing things within the field are all ways to think about finding a problem to dig into for this paper.
For the journal, please do two things:
Question 1. Name and give some context for the controversy you would like to research for Paper Four. Assume your reader is not in your major and may need some background to understand the controversy.
Question 2. Tell your general purpose for the paper. This can change, but I'd like you to have an idea of your purpose going into the research. Then use two other elements to name things that will probably be important/spark questions/get you looking into sources. Naming a concept or a certain point of view, giving a possible implication or consequence, or talking about information you need to find would all help get you thinking about the paper topic in broad and deep ways.
