1. There isn't much doubt that the internet has radically changed the landscape of the music industry. From the early days of Napster to the present, users have found many ways to get around the traditional revenue model established by record companies. What are the implications of BitTorrent and apps like it for the music industry? What are some creative ways musicians have adapted to the new environment?
2. There has been a lot of press lately about Net Neutrality, and the role of the FCC and the US Government in regulating our access to the internet. What is Net Neutrality all about? Should the Internet be regulated? If so, by whom?
3. Here's a fascinating article about new models in the music industry and a lot of real world examples of how creative artists like Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails are making lots of money outside the normal business model.
The author talks about a simple equation: Connecting with Fans (CtF) + Reason to Buy (RtB) = The Business Model. Reznor gives away all Nine Inch Nails music for free. He makes money on unique offers like a signed box set of the music. Fans are more than willing to pay for that, even though they can download the music at no cost.

4. I've worked in a remote environment for 18 years, and have experienced both BYOD and company-owned device plans. I've settled on BYOD for my desktop, but have a company-owned iPad and laptop. My phone is personal and I do not use it for work at all.
All in all, I find I prefer BYOD to having a company-owned device. Although my company's security policies can be invasive and inconvenient, I find that to be less irritating than owning a company machine that has the software owned and managed by IT.
What do you think about BYOD over company-owned devices? (BYOD is bring your own device)
5. One of the most useful technologies I've seen in a long time is the new "taxi" business model of companies like Uber and Lyfft. They both make use of wireless technologies to acquire customers, retain them, and manage their business. When I travel to New York City, it's much easier to use my phone to grab a ride with Uber than to stand on the curb flailing my arms for a cab. What other new wireless technologies have you used to purchase goods or services? How does the experience compare to what happened before wireless was available?
