Case: Second, to understand how students organized campus protests and interacted with schools and teachers, we conducted 22 semi-structured interviews from October 2019 to October 2020.5 15 of them were conducted with student activists who organized concern groups in their schools, whom we contacted through Instagram's Direct Message function (since most concern groups have set up Instagram accounts). These activists were from 14 different local schools, which were selected to ensure a mix of "banding."6 Seven of these schools are Band 1, four Band 2, and three Band 3. More Band 1 students were interviewed because they were more active during the protests and they were more responsive to interview requests.
