Read Chapters 8-9 in Aguinis and review the PowerPoints on Aguinis and Chandler before participating in this week's discussion. 

In Chapter 8, Aguinis discusses a form of Performance Management called a Multisource feedback system known as a 360 Review. In Chapter 9, Aguinis discusses the role of the leader in the performance management process, with a focus on the use of coaching and feedback as key leadership performance management skills. You have also been reading Chandler. Based on your understanding of Chandler's theory and Aguinis' theory of performance management, answer the following questions:  

  1. Explain whether or not you feel a 360-performance review would fit within Chandler's theory of performance management and give an example from her book to support your answers. 
  2. How does each author, Aguinis and Chandler, use coaching and feedback in their performance management theory? Provide at least one example to support your thoughts. 
  3. In Aguinis, read Case Study 9-2 on page 296: Performance Management Leadership at Henry's Commercial Sales and Leasing.  
  4. Based on the material covered in this chapter, analyze Henry's decision to assign Martin to his role. 
  5. Assess Martin's coaching style.
  6. What could Martin do to help Tara become a more effective CSR?
