Problem:
What would be a good response to this?
There were multiple reasons of why the people started to revolt in 1848. The biggest known cause was Nationalism. Many different ethnic groups within certain countries wanted to establish their own independence. Even though they all failed, they still helped pave the way to the economic change in Europe. France came close to their successful revolution when the working class resulted in violence after Louis-Philippe's abdication. The working class was the backbone of France but yet that had no political say. After the National Assembly failed to do what they promised, Napoleon III was elected president. It came to no surprise that he wanted more power and declared himself emperor. The French Revolution failed. Hungary was also trying to become their own country and even almost succeeding after the Emperor of Austria granted them independence until his nephew, Franz Josef I replaced him and took control over Hungary again. Italy was also inspired by the revolutions going on across Europe and wanted to unite Italy. After other small Italian establishments were warding off Austria troops, King Charles Albert of the biggest Italy establishment decided to join the revolt as well. The French and Austria ended up getting involved and shut down the Revolution. The Revolutions of 1848 were also called the Romantic Revolutions because they were all about passion and emotions. These people felt so strongly about the change of Europe that they even died for the cause. Their deaths weren't in vain either and their dreams would eventually come true.
