Question

Bertha Parker Bertha is an 84-year-old female who was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 30 years ago. She has multiple chronic health problems, including mild to moderate dementia and gastroparesis. During a recent hospitalization for uncontrolled diabetes, she was given a swallowing evaluation after nurses observed hoarseness and coughing during and after swallowing. Assessment/Screening: Address and include unique variables about the individual in regards to age, socio- cultural, economic background, and genetics; and identify how these are considered in planning nutritional care for this client. Assess protective and predictive factors, including genetics, which influence the nutritional health of this client. If these aren't include in the unfolding case, you can add to it or adapt it.
