The Assignment - For the individual assignment; select a project either from your own experience, a well-known historic project or a project that is currently taking place and write a report on the success or otherwise of the project. The project and scope of the report is up to the individual. The project can be from any industry or any sector; private, public, or voluntary (not-for-profit). You can write a report on the whole project i.e. have a wide scope and try and analyse everything that took place. Alternatively you can concentrate on one or two facets of the project, e.g. risk, quality, planning or any other topics relating to project management that we have covered in the course. As with the group assignment a key outcome of the report should be what potential project managers (or organizations) can learn from the project and what strategies should be employed in future projects to increase their success.

Your project report should not exceed 3000 words (note: appendices do not count in the word count). This is to be completed individually and should clearly draw upon a number of sources of information.

For all answers, use references from the literature to illustrate the points you make. Credit will be given for appropriate use of methodologies and techniques introduced in the module. Ensure that you include at least six references using a recognized format e.g. Harvard or similar

Assessment Criteria: Your assignment will be assessed according to the following criteria:

The degree of critical analysis, understanding and discussion of the project and project management topic(s) you have chosen,

The degree to which you have informed your writing by wider reading and supported your argument with appropriate citation and use of academic and practitioner materials,

The logic, clarity and structure of your report,

The clarity of your presentation, including spelling, punctuation and grammar,

The key learning points for project managers or an organization that comes from this research.
