Case Study: Hong Kong is one of the three major international financial centres in the world, and its financial market generates a large contribution to the GDP. Therefore, the healthiness of the financial system is of vital importance to Hong Kong as a financial hub in Asia.

Requirements: (i) Discuss the structure and functions of the financial system in Hong Kong.

(ii) Discuss the role and functions of Hong Kong Monetary Authority ("HKMA").

(iii) Comment the performance of HKMA in regulating the financial institutions in Hong Kong.

(iv) Draw overall conclusion from your analysis on the healthiness of the financial system in Hong Kong; and recommend any suggestion to enhance the international financial centre status of Hong Kong in the near future.
