A) The figure below is a blank hydropathy plot, waiting for some data to be plotted upon it. Use this plot to show typical results for a transmembrane protein that passes through the plasma membrane 3 times. Note that I have added tick marks at 25 amino acid intervals.

B. Consider any one of the three regions of this protein that are actually embedded in the phospholipid bilayer. What structural and chemical features do you expect this membrane spanning region to have?

C. So, what gets plotted on that figure is a moving average of the hydropathy of the amino acids along the length of the polypeptide. List 5 amino acids that have a positive hydropathy index and would be expected to be frequent in the upper half of the plot. (Full name, 3-letter code, or best, 1-letter code is acceptable for listing amino acids.)

D. List 5 amino acids that have a negative hydropathy index and would be expected to be frequent in the lower half of the plot.

E. Considering that this is a transmembrane protein that passes through the plasma membrane 3 times, where in the cell was this protein made? Be specific about where translation of this protein occurred.
