In chapter 2 Chemistry they talked about the tonicity of water: hypotonic which means there is less solutes in the water outside the cell then inside; hypertonic means there is more solutes outside the cell than inside; isotonic means that the solutes are equal inside and outside the cell.

In chapter 3 cells they talk about transport of substance in and out of the cell, one of the transports was osmosis which is the movement of water form high concentration of water to low concentration of water.

-Based upon this knowledge what happens to the movement of water to a patient in a hypotonic condition?

-Why doesn't an IV contain pure water?
