The establishment of the DHS two decades after the 9/11 attacks is regarded as one of the most significant and effective government actions ever taken following the tragic incident. Despite the challenges that it has faced, the US is still more secure due to the presence of the agency. Since 2001, there have been no repeat attacks similar to the one that occurred on September 11. The Department of Homeland Security has continued to adapt to the evolving threats to the US. For instance, it has been focusing on domestic terrorism and cyber threats. However, it is still important to remember that the US is still fighting against foreign terrorist groups. The DHS has made significant progress in improving the security of the country. Through its various initiatives, such as the establishment of a robust screening system at airports and borders, we have been able to prevent foreign terrorists from coming to the US. The Department of Homeland Security has made significant progress in improving the information sharing capabilities of federal, state, and local agencies. After Hurricane Katrina, the Federal Emergency Management Agency was reformed. Today, it has the resources and capabilities to respond to disasters in both the states.
