Question: Case of Rebekka Rebekka is a 27-year-old Hispanic female with a history of hospitalizations, both psychiatric and substance related. She was referred to substance use disorder (SUD) treatment after her most recent psychiatric hospitalization. Rebekka shares that she has been using alcohol and cannabis to manage social relationships as well as mood swings and boredom. She has a great deal of anxiety when she is around groups of people. She currently is not working; for the last 7 years she has worked as a certified nursing assistant. Though she is currently not in an intimate relationship, she has had boyfriends in the past. She has never been married and has no children. She lives with a roommate and has three people she considers as her close friends. She lives close to her family; she comes from a large family with five siblings where she is the youngest. Her drinking and cannabis use has impacted her mood swings which in turn have impacted her friendships, connections with family, and employment.
