Question
As nurses, we are bound by the highest ethical standards. Our role requires us to be empathetic yet selfless, even in the most challenging circumstances. Despite adversities, we are tasked with making optimal decisions and delivering exceptional care, even in dire situations. It's likely that the pandemic will be remembered as one of the most dangerous and distressing periods in 21st-century nursing. As health advocates, our duty is to enhance and preserve life quality while ensuring patient safety, even in the harshest conditions. Every patient deserves the right to treatment and life, if they so choose, and this right should extend to all humans. Regrettably, this is a contentious issue as not everyone is granted this right. An ethical dilemma could arise from the refusal of treatment or limited access for certain population groups, such as those of a different race or socioeconomic status. Our primary responsibility as nurses is to prevent harm and deliver the best care for the most favorable outcomes.
