A New Trend A new trend based on my personal experiences in healthcare has been the rise of apple watches that monitor your cardiac rhythm. I have experienced many patients being admitted on the cardiovascular unit in atrial flutter, sinus bradycardia, and ventricular tachycardia because their Apple watch alerted them of the change in rhythm. This advancement has led to a greater awareness of dysrhythmias and saved some people's lives. In the case study "Early Myopericarditis diagnosed in a 31-year-old patient using smartwatch technology" the authors note that smartwatches could play a very important role in the new telemedicine era and create more opportunities for early diagnoses of cardiac dysrhythmias. The literature seems hopeful that this new trend will lead to further developments that could lead to more immediate medical intervention by detecting specific and sensitive diagnostic algorithms (Diodato et al., 2023).
